Chengdu Panda breeding takes place in the Chinese provinces of Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu. The pandas are considered a national treasure and beloved by all. The population of the Chengdu Panda is under 2,000; therefore, the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding has been created to ensure the continued life and vitality of these glorious animals.

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is located 6 miles from the downtown area and is known to be the best environment of a make shift habitat for the Chengdu Panda. The research center not only breeds the pandas, but also 20 other species of rare animals every year. Chengdu Panda breeding efforts are needed and revered in the country of China due to the status of the Panda in the country and the popularity of the animal all over the world. 

Providing a natural and realistic environment for the Chengdu Panda is crucial in the caring for and breeding process.  An important aspect of providing a realistic habitat is providing bamboo and bushes similar to those of the natural diet and habitat of the Panda in the wild. The research center has created an additional 500 acres on which to grow more plants and bamboo for the Chengdu Panda’s care.
